Grade: 9/10
9. Doubt - Ladies and gentlemen, behold: this is what brilliance looks and feels like.
Grade: 10/10
6. The French Lieutenant’s Woman - With its unforgettable scenes (Meryl Streep at the cobb of Lyme Regis, waves crushing against her dark silhouette), breath-taking landscapes and the mysterious charm, this film has a plenty to offer despite its weak script and disappoint second half.
Grade: 5/10
1. The Iron Lady - This successful portrait of the Iron Lady treats its heroine with respect without judging her for her views. Thatcher’s strong character and willpower take the stage as the film shows us not necessarily what she achieved, but how she achieved it. Streep’s bold performance brings the Lady’s spirit to live in her youth, years as a prime minister and nowadays, as an old lady suffering from dementia, the last of which has been given a bit too much attention.
Grade: 8/10.
